While the country celebrates the success of the England Lionesses victory in the Euros, Dewlay Cheesemakers is proud to announce kit sponsorship of a local grassroots girls football team.
The Myerscough Whites Under 9 girls team will now be kept dry and warm on match days as Dewlay Cheese offered to sponsor the girls’ training jackets.
“Myself and my brother Nick are keen sportsman and know what it is like to play sports in the cold and wet weather. So, when we were approached last month to sponsor a local youth teams training jacket it was an easy decision,” says owner Richard Kenyon.
“As a local company, it’s great that we can help support a local grassroots team. These girls are the future of women’s football, and after watching the Euro final I’m sure they will be spurred on to be the next Toone or Mead!”
The team of nine girls only formed last season and were crowned Shield Final winners in December, as well as tournament winners at a summer festival event in June this year.
With some of the players also attending the opening match and final of the Euros at Wembley, it is hoped that watching the Lionesses play and receiving their new kit will bring them victories along the way.
The team are also being sponsored by another local firm; Bradshaws Farm Shop, so no doubt the girls will be refreshed at half time with oranges and reenergised post-match with cheese on toast!
“It’s great to see so many local girls wanting to take part in sports, and we can’t wait to hear how the girls get on this season. We are behind them every step of the way,” added Richard.
