Dewlay was founded in 1957 by George Kenyon a Lancastrian dairyman. Some fifty years on, the dairy is still family owned and run and has stayed true to its roots in the historic market town of Garstang.
We manufacture around 1,500 tonnes of cheese a year from our purpose built 18 acre site, employing more than 50 people. Despite being one of the largest cheese producers in the north of England our philosophy has remained unchanged. We use traditional handcrafted techniques that give our cheeses their unique characteristics. We have also embraced modern technology and combined the two to give consistent quality throughout all our products.
Curds are still cut by hand, even pressing is done manually alongside an automatic press and we have been using the same mother culture for over 40 years. The commitment we give to our cheese is equalled only by our steadfastness to you, our customer, to provide a product and a service that is second to none.
